On Saturday 30th August 2025, Nottinghamshire Lieutenancy was represented by Cherryl Lacey DL, Chair of the Lieutenants Commonwealth Group, at the inaugural ceremony of the Enugu State Union held at St Jude’s Church, Mapperley.
Enugu State, located in south eastern Nigeria, shares a rich cultural and industrial heritage that resonates with the traditions of Nottinghamshire. The newly formed community group aims to support and celebrate the contributions of individuals from Enugu who have made Nottingham their home, fostering unity, cultural exchange, and mutual support.
The event was graced by the presence of the Lord Mayor of Nottingham, Councillor Patience Ifediora, herself a proud native of Enugu State. Cherryl Lacey DL was warmly welcomed by attendees and had the privilege of assisting in the presentation of certificates to community members in recognition of their achievements and commitment.
Nottinghamshire Lieutenancy extends its congratulations to the Enugu State Union and looks forward to continued collaboration and friendship with the community.
